About the event

Join us on July 12th from 11am - 4pm at Pilgrim Hot Springs for an insect safari! We'll explore the Pilgrim Hot Springs grounds to find insects and other arthropods, look at them under magnification and with a microscope, and discuss who they are and how they support ecology and our changing environment. We'll try to find some cool beetles, learn the difference between a sawfly larva and a true caterpillar, and look at some bumble bees that play "game of combs" to hijack other bees' nests for their own gain.

All ages are welcome (kids are the best bug finders)! Bug nets and viewers will be provided.

Transportation is available, departing from the Kawerak parking lot at 9:00 am. Space is very limited! Please email Arlo Hannigan to reserve your spot, ahannigan@kawerak.org.

Bring your own picnic and bug repellant! A 4wd truck is recommended.
